Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday inaugurated a medical oxygen facility at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in New Delhi, the state-run oil company’s first move in the country ahead of a possible third wave of Covid-19. This is the first of seven such installations set up in New Delhi. Capital comes amid the pandemic.
The medical oxygen production unit and pressurization unit at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Bagh, Punjab, set up by Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), can also be used to refill oxygen cylinders, the petroleum ministry said in a statement.
People across the country are working together to cope with the growing demand for oxygen during the second wave of the epidemic. He said steel companies have played an important role in the supply of liquefied medical oxygen (LMO) across the country by shifting oxygen production capacity to liquefied medical oxygen (LMO) production and reducing steel production. Pradhan also has a portfolio of steel products.
The equipment at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital has a capacity of 60 Nm3/hour and can provide oxygen with a purity of up to 96%.
In addition to providing medical oxygen support to hospital beds connected by pipes to hospital manifolds, the plant can also fill 12 giant Type D medical oxygen cylinders per hour using a 150 bar oxygen compressor, the statement said.
No special raw materials are required. According to PSA, the technology uses a chemical that acts as a zeolite filter to filter nitrogen and other gases from the air, with the end product being medical-grade oxygen.
